Chinese Horoscope

The Chinese zodiac is made up of twelve different animals. Each animal is the sign for one year, which repeats every twelve years. Each year is named after one of the twelve of the twelve animals. Many Chinese people believe that the animal sign of the year in which you were born will determine your destiny, your personality, your spiritual outlook, and your overall success and happiness. You should locate the year in which you were born, find out which sign you were born under and the signs that are relevant to it.

Remember that the Chinese zodiac is based on the Chinese lunar calendar, which is based on the moon. The western calendar, used for everything on the Internet, is based on the Earth's orbit around the Sun, whereas the Chinese calendar is based on the Moon's orbit around the Earth.

• Chinese lunar calendar date = Western calendar date - about thirty days.
• Western solar calendar date = Chinese calendar date + about thirty days.

Those who were born in January need to subtract one year for their Chinese zodiac. For example, if you were born in January 1982 of the Western calendar, then your Chinese birth would have been in December 1981.

Note that the Chinese calendar has been adjusted to the western year number, so that 1979 is 1979 no matter which calendar you use.
