The Five Elements of Ancient China
Below are listed the Chinese words for the five primary elements
(五行 - wǔ xíng)
of
ancient China - metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Corresponding to
the five constant virtues - benevolence, righteousness, propriety,
knowledge, and faith.
It is interesting
to note the similarity with the four elements of ancient Greece -
earth, wind, water, and fire.
