Monosyllabic Chinese Word Lists
Written Chinese is well-known for its beauty and eloquence. Listed on the following pages are a few single-syllable Chinese words. Traditional Chinese Words vs. Simplified Chinese Words Some Chinese words have been simplified. Traditional Chinese words are in everyday-use in Taiwan, but mainland China has adopted the simplified system. The simplified Chinese words simply have fewer strokes than traditional Chinese words, to make them easier to read and write. Remember that other than their look, simplified Chinese words are pronounced the same as traditional Chinese words.
